'Government is attacking farmers, moong crop is in the markets, government is not buying it at MSP'

Moong Dal MSP: Punjab government to face fine for failing to procure moong crop at MSP Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann's Criticising, Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa said that the anti-farmer face of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has once again been exposed.

Bajwa, citing a news report, said that so far this year there has been no government purchase of moong crop. More than 99 percent purchase has been done Minimum Support Price (announced by the Centre) is purchased at a price lower than Rs 8,555 per quintal.

Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann said Under the crop diversification program itself, farmers were encouraged to plant moong dal crop in 2022. Meanwhile, this is the third consecutive year when poor mango farmers have been forced to sell their crop below MSP. Bajwa said that Aam Aadmi Party The government did not make a single effort to provide relief to the farmers who were forced to sell their peanut crop at low prices.

Senior Congress leader Bajwa said that 85 per cent of mangrove farmers sold at low prices in 2022 and 83 per cent in 2023. However, it seems that the Punjab Chief Minister did not care to make any strong strategy in this regard.

The Punjab Chief Minister along with his entire cabinet is camping in Jalandhar to campaign for the party candidate in the Jalandhar West by-election. He should know that he is the Chief Minister of the entire state and not just Jalandhar West. Bajwa said that he should rule the state and not campaign in the by-elections.

The opposition leader said that despite the tall claims of the Punjab Chief Minister, the flood-affected farmers have not received even a single penny as compensation, which is highly condemnable.
