Rain wreaks havoc from Nepal to Uttarakhand, threat of floods in many districts of Bihar, alert in UP

First of all, if we talk about Uttarakhand, then heavy rain is expected in most of the areas there. Due to rain, Dhanolti Mussoorie road is closed near Kafalani. Red alert has been issued in Kumaon region including Chamoli, Pauri, Rudraprayag. CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered all the District Magistrates to remain alert. More than 200 routes are closed in the state. A total of 221 JCBs have been deployed at various places. Also, NDRF-SDRF has been asked to remain on alert. Administration officials are reaching out to the people living near the drains. Heavy rain occurred in Pithoragarh, Nainital, Chamoli, Almora, Pauri on Saturday night.

Chardham Yatra temporarily suspended

The Char Dham Yatra has been temporarily suspended on Sunday in view of the forecast of heavy rains on July 7-8 in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand. Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey said that the decision to suspend the yatra has been taken for the safety of the pilgrims. He said that those who have already left for the pilgrimage have been advised to wait till the weather clears before starting their onward journey. Heavy rains have caused landslides in various parts of Uttarakhand for the last few days. The highway leading to Badrinath has been blocked at several places due to debris falling from the hills. Rivers in Uttarakhand are rising and the Alaknanda is flowing close to the danger mark at Vishnu Prayag near Joshimath.

Rescue operation is underway in riverside areas

Rishikesh's SP Rural Lokjeet Singh said that there is a possibility of heavy rain in the hilly areas. The water has risen here. We are in touch with the concerned departments. The police are taking all precautionary measures. All efforts are being made. People are being evacuated from the riverside areas.

Rivers in Bihar are above the danger mark

After heavy rains, many rivers in many districts of Bihar have touched the danger mark. Due to heavy rains in many parts of Bihar in the last 24 hours, major rivers including Kosi, Mahananda, Bagmati, Gandak, Kamla Balan and Kamla are flowing above the danger mark at many places. Apart from this, alerts have been issued at some places that the rivers may touch the danger level. The water level of the Bagmati river has touched the danger mark in Sitamadhi, Muzaffarpur, Shivhar, Aurai and Supi. At 8 am on Sunday, the water level of the Bagmati river was recorded at 71.16 meters in Sitamadhi and Supi, which is 0.16 meters above the danger mark.

Flood threat in Bihar after rain in Nepal

Flood situation persists in Bihar after heavy rains in Nepal. Gandak river is in spate. 4.5 lakh cusecs of water has been released from Valmikinagar Barrage. Flood water has entered the lower areas of Gandak. More than 150 farmers are stranded in the Diara of Bagaha. With the help of SDRF, the district administration has rescued 40 farmers. Rescue operations are still going on.

CM Yogi issued instructions regarding flood in UP

CM Yogi has given instructions regarding floods in UP. He said that all the District Magistrates and Municipal bodies should be alert towards the problem of floods and waterlogging. There is a danger of waterlogging due to heavy rains. An immediate solution should be found for this. In the areas where villages have been flooded due to heavy rains or excessive water in the rivers coming from Nepal, the district administration should settle the affected families in safe places and camps through public representatives.

More than 52 people died due to floods in Assam

There is a flood-like situation in Assam. According to the State Disaster Management Authority, the major rivers of the state are flowing above the danger mark, more than 52 people have died and more than 24 lakh people have been affected in 30 districts due to floods in the state. The affected districts include Cachar, Kamrup, Dhubri, Nagaon, Goalpara, Barpeta, Dibrugarh, Bongaigaon, Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Kokrajhar, Karimganj and Tinsukia.
