Developed in a record time of two years, this tank is a testament to India's progress in indigenous manufacturing. The light tank Zoravar weighs 25 tonnes and this is the first time that a new tank has been developed in such a short time. Now it is ready for testing. 59 of these tanks will be handed over to the army initially and this will lead to a larger program of 295 more armored vehicles. The Indian Air Force can supply two tanks at a time in the C-17 class transport aircraft as these tanks are lightweight and can be operated at high speed in mountain valleys. It is expected that the tests will be completed in the next 12-18 months and will be ready for induction. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) chief Sameer V Kamath said on Saturday that after all the tests, the indigenous light tank Zoravar is expected to be inducted into the Indian Army by the year 2027.
