Developed in a record time of two years, this tank is a testament to India's progress in indigenous manufacturing. The light tank Zoravar weighs 25 tonnes and this is the first time that a new tank has been developed in such a short time. Now it is ready for testing. 59 of these tanks will be handed over to the army initially and this will lead to a larger program of 295 more armored vehicles. It is expected that the tests will be completed in the next 12-18 months and will be ready for induction. Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) chief Sameer V Kamath said on Saturday that after all the tests, the indigenous light tank Zoravar is expected to be inducted into the Indian Army by the year 2027.
