New Delhi, July 07 (HS). The next round of talks on the proposed Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and Britain will begin this month. This information has been given by a senior official.
Official sources said on Sunday that with the new government taking charge in Britain, senior officials of India and Britain will hold the next round of talks this month to resolve pending issues and finalize the negotiations for the proposed free trade agreement. The official said that both the parties involved in the FTA are in touch. The next round of talks between the two will begin this month.
Earlier, Britain's newly elected Prime Minister Keir Stormer spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday. He said that he is ready to complete an FTA beneficial for both sides. Both the leaders have agreed to work towards completing a mutually beneficial India-UK FTA soon.
It is noteworthy that the negotiations for FTA between India and UK started in January 2022. The fourteenth round of talks was halted due to general elections in both the countries.
