Every third person in the country is a victim of this serious disease, if you also have these symptoms then be careful

Fatty liver disease: Know its risks and complications: The risk of chronic diseases is increasing rapidly in the country, liver related problems are one of them. During a program at the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences in New Delhi, Union Minister Dr. Jitender Singh informed people about the shocking statistics.

The Union Minister said, every third person in the country may have the problem of fatty liver. The risk of this disease, which is caused by diabetes and other metabolic disorders, is seen increasing rapidly even in those who do not drink alcohol.

The Union Minister said that in western countries, most of the cases of Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD) are seen in people suffering from obesity, however in India it has been seen that about 20 per cent of people who are not obese are also victims of this disease. If this liver disease is not taken care of in time, it can cause serious and life-threatening problems.

Potential risk of liver cirrhosis and cancer

In his address, the Union Minister said that NAFLD can lead to serious problems ranging from liver cirrhosis to liver cancer. Timely identification and treatment of this disease is necessary. There are two types of fatty liver problems – alcoholic fatty liver and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Lifestyle and dietary deficiencies are considered to be the main cause of most cases of NAFLD.

Learn about non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease affects people who drink little or no alcohol. It involves the accumulation of too much fat in the liver, affecting the normal functioning of this organ. Cases of NAFLD are often seen in people suffering from obesity. Experts do not yet know what causes the development of fatty liver, although lifestyle factors increase the risk.

If you have these symptoms then be careful

There are usually no symptoms in the early stages of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. However, over time you may experience problems such as fatigue, discomfort, pain or discomfort in the upper right part of the abdomen. As the disease progresses, problems such as itching of the skin, swelling of the abdomen, difficulty breathing, swelling of the legs, spider-like blood vessels just below the skin surface and frequent jaundice may occur. If you are also experiencing such symptoms, then be careful.

How to stay safe from this?

Health experts say that to avoid such serious liver diseases, it is most important that you control your weight. Eat a healthy diet that is rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats. Apart from this, also minimize the intake of alcohol, sugar and salt. Some studies show that excessive consumption of soda, sports drinks, packaged juices and other sugary drinks can make you a victim of fatty liver. Regular exercise is necessary to keep the body healthy and prevent liver diseases.
