Gujarat Building: A tragic incident took place in Sachin Pali village of Surat on Saturday (July 6). A six-storey building collapsed here, trapping many people in the rubble. Fire brigade and police teams reached the spot and continued the rescue operation throughout the night. Meanwhile, Surat Chief Fire Officer Basant Pareek said that seven bodies have been recovered in the search operation that continued overnight. Police said that the rescue operation is underway, but many people are still feared to be trapped inside.
It is being told that this was an old building, which suddenly collapsed. This six-storey building had 35 rooms, in which five to seven families were living risking their lives. According to the information, the owner of this entire building is a foreign woman and another person from here used to rent this house.
Building collapsed due to rain?
At present, the reason for the collapse of the building is not clear. It is being said that the dilapidated building collapsed due to heavy rains. Surat Police Commissioner Anupam Singh Gehlot said that relief work has been started after receiving information about the building collapse. Relief and rescue work is going on to rescue the people trapped in the debris. The NDRF team is working hard.
The building was constructed in 2016-17
Anupam Singh Gehlot further said that the building was constructed in 2016-17. About five flats were occupied by people, most of whom were factory workers in the area. When the rescue operation began, we heard the screams of the trapped people. Officials said that a committee has been formed to investigate the accident. Action will be taken against the accused on the basis of the investigation report.
