Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated nearly 2000 railway infrastructure projects worth over Rs 41,000 crore. Meanwhile, he also dedicated some other schemes to the nation. Modi also inaugurated the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the 'Pradhan Mantri Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' through a video conference. These stations located in 27 states and union territories will be redeveloped at a cost of more than Rs 19000 crore.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, these stations will act as a 'city hub' connecting the two sides of the city. These stations will have modern passenger amenities including scenic views, inter-modal connectivity, children's play areas, food courts.
These stations will be redeveloped to make them environment friendly and disability friendly. The design of these station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture. Prime Minister inaugurated Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh. It has been redeveloped at a total cost of approximately Rs 385 crore.
Apart from this the Prime Minister inaugurated 1500 road overbridges and underpasses and dedicated some of them to the nation. These road overbridges and underpasses are located in 24 states and union territories. These schemes have been constructed at a cost of about Rs 21,520 crore.
