Overcoming all the challenges, Team India led by Kapil Dev defeated the world champion West Indies by 43 runs in 1983 and captured the trophy. But when Team India returned to the country with the trophy, at that time BCCI did not even have enough money to give a grand welcome to the team.

Lata Mangeshkar raised funds through concert

The situation was such that BCCI was forced to raise funds to gift prize money to the 1983 World Cup winning team, at that time BCCI was assisted by the legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. She organized a music concert to raise funds for Team India and through this fund, each player received Rs 1 lakh.

However, from here the situation of BCCI changed and slowly BCCI started making its mark in world cricket. There are many old cases but we will talk only about the world in which India captured the trophy.

The first World Cup of T20 format was played in 2007. Team India won the World Cup after 24 years by defeating Pakistan by 5 runs in the final match. In such a situation, BCCI gave a prize money of Rs 10 crore. The board gave an additional Rs 1 crore to Yuvraj Singh who hit six consecutive sixes in an over.

Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Team India created history by defeating Sri Lanka in the final match at Wankhede. Team India won the ODI World Cup after 28 years. Under Dhoni's captaincy, BCCI gave Rs 39 crore to Team India.

BCCI rewarded T20 champion Team India with Rs 125 crore

Now BCCI has broken all the records and has given a reward of Rs 125 crore to the T20 champion Team India. BCCI handed over the cheque to Team India at Wankhede Stadium on Thursday. This is a record which no cricket board of any country has given to its winning team till date.
