Guwahati, July 05 (HS). Due to continuous rain in the state for several days, drivers passing through National Highway No. 27 and 6 in Jorabat Tinali and its surrounding areas had to face a lot of trouble on Friday. After a little rain, the problem of waterlogging occurs in Jorabat Tinali and its surrounding areas.
After heavy rain on Friday morning, the problem of waterlogging arose on the national highway in areas like Jorabat Tinali, 11 Mile, 10 Mile, 9 Mile, 8 Mile etc. Due to waterlogging, the drivers passing through this route had to face a lot of trouble. Local people say that at the time of construction of the national highway, the drains were not constructed properly on both sides of the road, due to which the problem of waterlogging arises in the area after a light rain every day.
Locals said that due to illegal cutting of mountains near the national highway, the red soil of the mountains flows into the drains during rains. This problem started in 2006, when the work of four-lane started. Due to rain, water enters the shops, due to which the shopkeepers located in Jorabat Tinali area have to suffer the most. Due to waterlogging of three to four feet in Jorabat Tinali, National Highway 27 as well as 6 came to a complete standstill. People coming and going from Shillong to Guwahati had to face a lot of trouble. Due to waterlogging, many passengers missed their trains and flights.
