Maharashtra Budget 2024-25: The state budget for 2024-25 was presented ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections to be held in October. The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislature began on Thursday. Maharashtra Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar presented the state budget and announced several gifts. Today Ajit Pawar made announcements in the budget like giving three free LPG cylinders to eligible families of the state and financial assistance of Rs 1500 every month to women. On Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar also presented the economic review of 2023-24 in the Legislature.
Chief Minister's My Girl Sister Scheme
Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced the implementation of 'Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana'. In this financial assistance scheme for women, it was announced to give a monthly allowance of Rs 1500 to eligible women between the ages of 21 and 60 years. 'Majhi Ladki Behan Yojana' will be implemented from July. An annual budgetary allocation of Rs 46,000 crore will be made for this scheme.
Petrol and diesel are cheaper in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai too
In the Maharashtra budget, Ajit Pawar has made a big announcement to reduce the price of petrol and diesel in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. After this announcement, petrol and diesel will become cheaper in Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai. Deputy CM Ajit Pawar said, “The tax on diesel for Mumbai is being reduced from 24 percent to 21 percent. This will reduce the price of diesel by Rs 2 per liter. The tax on petrol in the Mumbai region has been reduced from 26 percent to 25 percent. This will effectively reduce the price of petrol by 65 paise per liter.”
Free cylinder under Chief Minister Annapurna Yojana
Under the 'Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana', an eligible family of five people will be given three LPG cylinders free every year. Under this, 52.4 lakh families of the state will get three LPG cylinders free every year.
Government increased compensation for deaths due to animal attacks
The state government has increased financial assistance for deaths caused by stray animal attacks. The families of those who die in stray animal attacks will now get Rs 25 lakh, whereas earlier financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh was given.
Financial assistance to farmers and milk producers increased
The government will give a bonus of Rs 5000 per hectare to all the farmers of Maharashtra for cotton and soybean crops. Apart from this, the Maharashtra government will give a bonus of Rs 5 per liter to milk producing farmers even after July 1, 2024.
Government will provide financial help for Pink E-Rickshaw Scheme
In the Maharashtra budget, 10,000 women from 17 cities of the state will get financial help to buy e-rickshaws. A proposal was presented in the budget to allocate Rs 80 crore for this scheme.
Shubh Mangal Mass Marriage Registration Scheme
In the Maharashtra Budget, Finance Minister Ajit Pawar has proposed to increase the amount given to women under the Shubh Mangal Mass Marriage Registration Scheme from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000.
Summary of Economic Review of Maharashtra
The monsoon session of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly began on Thursday and the Economic Survey was presented before the state budget. Maharashtra's economic growth rate in the last financial year 2023-24 has been 7.6 percent. This is equal to the country's GDP growth rate of 7.6 percent. A year ago in 2022-23, it was 6.8 percent. According to the Economic Survey, the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) at current prices for 2023-24 was Rs 40,44,251 crore. On the basis of real prices, it has been Rs 24,10,898 crore.
Maharashtra has the highest average share in the country's GDP
Maharashtra has the highest average share of 13.9 per cent in GDP at current prices at the all-India level. Per capita state income for the financial year 2022-23 stood at Rs 2,52,389 as against Rs 2,19,573 in the previous financial year.
Growth rates in different sectors
In Maharashtra, the growth rate of agriculture and allied sectors as well as industry was 1.9 percent and 7.6 percent respectively. The growth rate of the service sector was recorded at 8.8 percent. The Economic Survey said, “The fiscal deficit was 2.8 percent of GSDP while the revenue deficit was 0.5 percent.”
