Palamu, 5 July (HS). The meeting of the peace committee organized in Medininagar city police station regarding Muharram fell prey to chaos. The meeting was boycotted due to the meeting not being organized in a systematic manner and the absence of senior officials and officers of various departments on the spot.
A peace committee meeting was scheduled in the city police station premises from 5 pm on Friday evening. A pandal was erected in the police station premises for the meeting, but the arrangements of the pandal were disrupted due to rain in the afternoon. The table cloths were wet. There was no sound system. There was also no arrangement for a fan. People from Hindu and Muslim communities arrived to attend the meeting at the scheduled time, but the Medininagar sub-divisional officer did not arrive. Even the officers of various departments did not reach the spot. In such a situation, seeing the chaos and the absence of senior officials, both the parties boycotted the meeting and decided to participate only after a new date is set and the meeting is held with complete arrangements.
A large number of people including General Khalifa Zeeshan Khan, social worker Mumtaz Khan, Israel Azad, Mohammad Kalam, Asghar Hussain, Mohammad Niazu, had reached the meeting on behalf of Moharram Intezamia Committee. Similarly, from Hindu society, former president of Mahavir Navyuvak Dal General Jugal Kishore, Durga Puja Mahasabha president Durga Johri, Ganesh Giri, Nagendra Prasad Nagin, Bablu Gupta, BM Pandey and others stayed on the spot for about 45 minutes to one hour. Mahavir Navyuvak Dal General president Pankaj Jaiswal was also not present in the meeting.
In this case, City Police Station in-charge Inspector Devvrat Poddar said that the meeting has been postponed. The date of the meeting will be decided again. Muharram will be celebrated on 17th July.
