During this ceremony, BCCI has given a prize money of Rs 125 crore to Team India. This amount of Rs 125 crore will also be distributed among all the players, selectors and support staff of the Indian team. It is worth noting that India has won the T20 World Cup for the second time by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the World Cup final. BCCI Chairman Roger Binny and Secretary Jai Shah came on the stage and handed over a cheque of Rs 125 crore to the returning team.
When the team was stuck in Barbados, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah had told that all the top officials have decided to give the award to Team India. He said that we won the last World Cup in 2007 and now after 17 years we have become World Cup winners again. The decision to give the prize money was taken by all the top officials together. It is being told that this Rs 125 crore will be distributed among the 15-member team, 4 reserve players and 15-member support staff. This support staff will include head coach Rahul Dravid, batting coach Vikram Rathod, 3 physios, manager and trainer. It is being told that every player in the team will be given Rs 5 crore and every member of the support staff will be given Rs 1 crore.
