The 24th SCO Summit is being held in Astana, Kazakhstan. India is being represented by Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in this summit. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar read the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi here. He praised the summit as a member of the SCO and also emphasized on issues like terrorism, climate change and strong connectivity for economic development.
He said that SCO has a prominent place in our foreign policy. India hosted the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government in 2020 and the meeting of the Council of Heads of State in 2023. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar congratulated Iran for participating as a member of the organization. The President also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Raisi and others in the helicopter crash. Along with this, he said that I also congratulate President Lukashenko and welcome Belarus as a new member of the organization.
stop terror funding
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that the objective of this conference is to consider the incidents happening against humanity and reduce its impact. He said that at present we have mutual respect for sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, equality, mutual benefit, non-interference in internal affairs, non-use of force or non-use of force as the basis of foreign policies. He said that fighting terrorism together is one of the basic goals of the SCO. He said that border violation is a big threat to peace. Terrorism cannot be ignored in any form.
The Foreign Minister stressed that the international community should leave alone the countries that shelter and encourage terrorists. He said that cross-border terrorism needs a decisive response. Terror funding should be stopped. Youth should be prevented from going on the path of radicalism.
Climate change is a concern
Jaishankar has made a big statement on terrorism as well as climate change. He said that climate change is a major concern for the world today. We are working towards shifting to alternative fuels, adopting electric vehicles and building climate-friendly infrastructure. Apart from this, he also emphasized on strong connectivity for economic development. He said that connectivity and infrastructure are necessary for any project. There should be trade rights and transport system without any discrimination. SCO needs to seriously discuss these aspects. He said that the 21st century is the century of technology. We have to make technology creative. It has to be implemented for social welfare and progress.
India becomes aware of Artificial Intelligence
In his address at the SCO summit, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said India is one of the countries to formulate a national strategy on artificial intelligence and launch an AI mission. Our commitment to AI for all is also reflected in our work within the SCO framework on the Roadmap on AI Cooperation.
