Lionel Messi, one of the best footballers in the world, will not be able to watch the Argentina football team play at the Paris Olympics later this month. Four players from the FIFA World Cup-winning team in Qatar have been named in coach Javier Machera's squad, including striker Julian Alvarez and defender Nicolas Otamendi. The 37-year-old Messi is currently representing Argentina in the Copa America Cup. His team won the Copa America Cup in 2021. Messi played an important role in his team's gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Olympic men's football is for Under-23, but three overage players are allowed in each team.
