Champions Trophy 2025: Last year, Pakistan was the host of Asia Cup cricket but India refused to play its matches in Pakistan, so it was not possible to host India's group matches as well as semi-finals and finals in Pakistan. Only its group matches were played in Pakistan, the rest of the matches had to be held in Sri Lanka. The same situation can arise in the Champions Trophy cricket tournament to be held in February-March next year.
No neutral countries
This time Pakistan is also hosting the Champions Trophy and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has submitted a possible draft of the program to the International Cricket Council (ICC). In which there is no place for India's matches or finals, semi-finals to be played in any alternative neutral country. The Pakistan Cricket Board has made the possible program in such a way that all the matches will be played in Pakistan only. India's matches, semi-finals and finals will be held in Lahore.
remain so
Relations between India and Pakistan have not improved and terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir are frequent. Given this, it remains to be seen whether the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will give the central government permission to play in Pakistan. If the central government refuses or the Board of Control for Cricket in India expresses reluctance to go to Pakistan, then a dilemma may arise for the Pakistan Cricket Board once again.
India is indispensable
India has an upper hand in ICC, TV and other income from broadcasting is generated only when India participates. Considering that, if India does not go to Pakistan, then there will be a conflict between the two boards again. Once again it seems that Pakistan Board will not get freedom without playing India's match at an alternate center.
Reserve day in the final
The Indian Cricket Board will respond in the coming days to the possible draft put forward by Pakistan for the Champions Trophy from February 19 to March 9, 2025.
