Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren resigned from his post today. Then Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren met Governor CP Radhakrishnan and staked claim to form the government.
Earlier, the ruling party leaders and MLAs held a meeting at Champai Soren's residence and unanimously elected Hemant Soren as the leader of the JMM legislative party.
After coming out of the Raj Bhavan, Champai Soren said that I have resigned as per the decision of the JMM-led alliance. Our alliance is strong.
He said that everyone knows what happened with Hemant Soren. The alliance partners gave me the responsibility. Now the alliance has decided in favor of Hemant Soren.
Hemant Soren was released from jail on June 28, nearly five months after his arrest, after the High Court granted him bail in a money laundering case related to the land scam.
Hemat Soren was arrested on 31 January 2024. Before his arrest, Hemat Soren had resigned from the post of Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, official sources have said that the ED will challenge the Jharkhand High Court's decision to grant bail to former Chief Minister and JMM leader Hemant Soren in the Supreme Court. Let us tell you that the Jharkhand High Court had granted bail to Hemant Soren on June 28.
