Called by pretending to be a sick relative, cheated a farmer for Rs 90,000

Kaithal, July 2 (HS). Fraudsters duped a farmer of Rs 90,000 by calling him on the phone and informing him that his sick relative was admitted to the hospital. Police have registered a case against unknown persons. In a complaint given to the cyber police station, Gurvinder, a resident of Tik village, said that he is a farmer. He has an account in Punjab and Sindh Bank branch Kaithal. He received a call on April 18, 2024 at around 4 pm.

The caller told him that he was his relative Rajesh. He is ill and admitted in the hospital. The caller pretended to be a relative and told him that he will send 20 thousand rupees to his account. He should send this money on his friend's scanner. Then a message of 10 thousand rupees was sent to his WhatsApp number, then that person sent him a scanner on which Ajay was written. He sent 10 thousand rupees on that scanner. After which the accused asked Gurvinder to send 10 thousand rupees more on the same scanner. He sent that too. In this way, at different times, he deposited an amount of 90 thousand rupees in his account. Later he came to know that someone has cheated him and taken this money. ASI Jasbir Singh of Cyber ​​Police Station said that a case of fraud has been registered against an unknown person in this case. Further investigation is being done in the matter.
