New Delhi, July 03 (HS). In Delhi, a delegation led by National General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Yagyavalkya Shukla gave a memorandum to Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan. The delegation made various demands related to reforms in agricultural education such as opening new educational institutions, improving the infrastructure of various existing agricultural education institutions, improving the standards of agricultural education, etc.
ABVP has put forth before Shivraj Singh Chauhan points such as prompt efforts to promote agricultural research, creation of opportunities for students studying agriculture as per the current requirements, uniformity in the standards of agricultural higher education, efforts to promote agricultural entrepreneurship.
ABVP National General Secretary Yagyavalkya Shukla said that the agriculture sector of the country is the means of livelihood for a large population. The Vidhyarthi Parishad has apprised the Union Agriculture Minister of the need for various efforts such as rapid improvement in agricultural education in the country, construction of high quality educational institutions in all the states for agricultural education. ABVP hopes that the Government of India and the state governments will make prompt corrective efforts on agricultural education and agriculture related issues.
ABVP National Minister Shivangi Kharwal said that as per the National Education Policy 2020, there is an urgent need to constitute committees of subject experts to translate the curriculum of agriculture and related sub-sectors such as horticulture, dairy technology, food technology, fisheries, biotechnology, agricultural engineering, silk production etc. into various mother tongues.
The delegation that met Union Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan included ABVP National General Secretary, National Ministers Virendra Solanki, Rahul Rana, Buddhdev Bagh, Shalini Verma, Ankit Shukla, Shravan B Raj, Agrivision National Convenor Shubham Patel, ABVP Delhi State Minister Harsh Atri and Delhi University Students Union President Tushar Dedha.
