Bihar Bridge Collapse: The series of bridge collapses continues in Bihar. While six bridges have collapsed earlier, today another 35-year-old bridge has collapsed. This is the seventh bridge collapse in Bihar within 15 days.
35 year old bridge collapsed
Today (3 July) the bridge on the Gandaki river near Deoria village in Maharajganj collapsed. Due to which the connectivity of the surrounding villages was cut off. According to information received from sources, there is no news of any casualties so far. Just 10 days ago a bridge had collapsed. Today the 35-year-old bridge has collapsed once again. According to the local people, the bridge was not repaired even once, due to which the bridge collapsed.
The bridge collapsed due to soil erosion
Locals also said that the reason for the collapse of the previous bridge was also excessive soil erosion. This bridge has also collapsed due to soil erosion. Some people complained about this to the local authorities, but it was taken lightly. The head of Deoria Panchayat and the local CO have reached the spot. This bridge was constructed in 1998 by the then MP Prabhunath Singh at a cost of Rs 6 lakh. Apart from this, another bridge (on Dhami river) was constructed in 2004 at a cost of Rs 10 lakh.
Earlier, the bridge on Gandak canal had collapsed
It is noteworthy that the bridge built earlier on the Gandak canal in Siwan suddenly collapsed on June 22. First a pillar of the bridge fell and within a few minutes the bridge was submerged in water. The incident took place in Ramgarha Panchayat of Daraunda block. The bridge built on the Gandak canal between Patedha and Garauli villages was also very old.
