England's experienced fast bowler James Anderson played his last Test match against India in March. Returning to the cricket field after four months, Anderson once again wielded deadly magic with the red ball.
In the County Championship, Anderson took six wickets in just 10 overs for Lancashire against Nottingham at Southport. The 41-year-old veteran bowler also completed 1,120 wickets in first-class cricket. After dismissing Nottingham captain Haseeb Hameed for 10 runs, Anderson dismissed New Zealand batsman Will Young, wicketkeeper Joe Clarke, Jack Haynes and Lyndon James in four overs. He took his sixth wicket in the form of Liam Patterson-White. Anderson finished his first spell with six wickets for 19 runs in 10 overs. This is the 55th time an English pacer has taken five or more wickets in first-class cricket. Anderson will play the last Test match of his career against West Indies on July 10 at the historic Lord's ground in London. In the Dharamsala Test against India, Anderson took the last wicket of the tour to take his Test wicket tally to 700. He also became the first fast bowler to achieve this feat.
