Ranchi, July 2 (HS). The Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries has written a letter to the Civil Aviation Ministry and Chief Minister Champai Soren to start the construction of Dhalbhumgarh Airport. The letter said that Jamshedpur is still deprived of air connectivity for long distance passengers. It is necessary that forest and environmental clearance and other procedures be completed to start the construction work of the airport.
The letter said that the forest clearance papers are currently pending for the recommendation of the state government. It was also said that in the year 2023, under the UDAN scheme, Sonari Airport was started to operate nine-seater commercial aircraft to Jamshedpur, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar, but people are not getting its benefits. The runway of Sonari Airport is also very short. Therefore, it is not possible to include big aircraft. After the construction of a dedicated airport in Jamshedpur, the passenger congestion at Ranchi Airport will also be reduced.
Chamber General Secretary Paresh Gattani said that this airport will be beneficial for the common citizens as well as corporate and PSUs like Tata Steel, Tata Motors, FCI as well as MSMEs located in the East Singhbhum district of the state.
