The Delhi High Court has sent a notice to the CBI on the petition of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Arvind Kejriwal has challenged the trial court's order to arrest him and send him to the agency's custody. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna said that the next hearing of the case will be on July 17. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi presented arguments on behalf of CM Kejriwal.
Kejriwal filed an application
The important thing is that Arvind Kejriwal had challenged the CBI's arrest by filing a petition in the Delhi High Court on July 1 (Monday). The CBI had arrested CM Kejriwal on June 26.
What petition did Kejriwal file?
Kejriwal has also challenged the special court's order of June 26. He said that he has been sent on 3-day CBI remand. CBI made false grounds for the arrest and no arguments were given. The petition filed on behalf of Kejriwal states that the arrest was made on the basis of already available material, which is illegal and not permitted by law.
Further hearing on July 17
Kejriwal's lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi told the Delhi High Court that we are demanding cancellation of arrest and release from custody. After this, the court asked whether he has applied for bail? In response to this, Singhvi said that no, he did not do so. After this, the High Court also sent a notice to the CBI and asked it to file a reply in this case. Now the hearing of this case will be held on July 17.
