Sensex jumps 443 points to a new high of 79476

Mumbai: Funds started the week on a positive note today led by buying in IT-Software Services, Technology stocks and FMCG, Finance-Banking, Metals, Consumer Durables, Auto stocks. Sensex again headed towards 80000 and Nifty 24500 today as foreign portfolio investors resumed big buying in Indian stock markets and retail sector, high net worth investors kept pricing in. Funds led the aggressive rally based on Sensex, Nifty and small, mid-cap stocks saw a rebound again. While there was partial profit booking in realty, power stocks. Sensex today went up to 79561 and closed at a new record high of 79476.19, up 443.46 points. While Nifty 50 spot went up to 24164 and finally closed at a new high of 24141.95, jumping 131.35 points.

IT index gains 678 points: Black Box, Exicads, Proteus, Persistent, Tech Mahindra gain

Shares of IT-software services, technology companies rose again today. Funds were being raised from IT companies in anticipation of encouraging quarterly results by the end of June 2024. Axiscades Technology rose Rs 71.60 to Rs 595.40, Proteus Agarve rose Rs 140.90 to Rs 1290.90, Black Box rose Rs 33.35 to Rs 384.90, Persistent rose Rs 258.55 to Rs .4498.20, Ramco Systems rose Rs 16.25 to Rs 341.50, Infosys rose Rs 22.80 to Rs 1589.75, Coforge rose Rs 61.70 to Rs 5510, Oracle Finserv rose Rs 327.20 to Rs 10,205.20, Tech Mahindra rose Rs 42.05 to Rs 1472.25, Wipro rose Rs 12.35 to Rs 527.35. BSE IT index rose 678.61 points to close at 37629.97.

Investor asset-market cap rose by Rs 3.81 lakh crore to a record high of Rs 443.05 lakh crore

Investor wealth, or the total market capitalisation of BSE-listed companies, rose by Rs 3.81 lakh crore to a new record high of Rs 443.05 lakh crore, as index-linked indexes continued their record rally and funds bought several small, mid-cap, a group stocks.

Finolex up Rs 70 to Rs 1629: Carborundum up Rs 70 to Rs 1736: Hind Aeronautics, Siemens rise

In capital goods stocks, funds bought heavily in preferred stocks today. Finolex Cables rose Rs 69.90 to Rs 1629.05, Carborundum rose Rs 70.25 to Rs 1735.90, Grindwell Nottern rose Rs 103.85 to Rs 2834, Hindustan Aeronautics rose Rs 128.25 to Rs 5391.30. Siemens rose Rs 180.65 to Rs 7884.20, CG Power rose Rs 16.90 to Rs 721.30, ABB India rose Rs 139.85 to Rs 8632.45, Timken rose Rs 61.35 to Rs 4337.65. BSE Capital Goods index closed 402.19 points higher at 72726.60.

Auto stocks gain: Motherson, Tata Motors, Hero MotoCorp, Maruti Suzuki, Apollo Tyres rise

The fund also maintained its preferred buy position in automobile company stocks today. Motherson rose by Rs 6.45 to Rs 196.75, Tata Motors rose by Rs 11.55 to Rs 1001.65, Apollo Tyres rose by Rs 3.35 to Rs 545.65, Maruti Suzuki rose by Rs 74.10 to Rs 12,111, Bajaj Auto rose by Rs 16.45 to Rs 3982.20, Bajaj Auto rose by Rs 29.75 to Rs 9528.85. BSE Auto index closed at 57525.24, up 232.13 points.

Among finance and banking stocks, Rane Holdings, PTC India, Bajaj Finance, Poonawala Fin were in the green.

Selective buying was witnessed in finance, banking stocks today. Aban Holdings rose Rs 35.90 to Rs 498.95, Fino Payments rose Rs 21.30 to Rs 315.35, Religare Enterprises rose Rs 17.10 to Rs 256.05. Crisil rose Rs 181.25 to Rs 4433.80, UTI AMC rose Rs 32.80 to Rs 1032, Poonawala Fin rose Rs 12.85 to Rs 498.95, Bajaj Finance rose Rs 159.05 to Rs 7274.80.

FMCG stocks include Godrej Agrovet, Patanjali Foods, Hind. Unilever, GM Breweries rose

Funds are also broadly buying FMCG stocks today. Godrej Agrovet rose Rs 74.95 to Rs 750.75, shares rose Rs 108.30 to Rs 1699.65 on Patanjali Foods' decision to acquire non-food business of Patanjali Ayurved for Rs 1100 crore, Emami rose Rs 32.95 to Rs 722.05, Agro Tech Foods rose Rs .25.05 to Rs 740.90, Hindustan Unilever rose Rs 27.05 to Rs 2502.25, ITC rose Rs 4.40 to Rs 429.30, SH Kelkar rose Rs 9.25 to Rs 194.50, Zydel Wellness rose Rs 84.25 to Rs 1870.

FPIs/FIIs made net sales of Rs. 426 crore in shares: DIIs made net purchases of Rs. 3917 crore

Foreign Portfolio Investors – FPIs, FIIs net sold shares worth Rs 426.03 crore in cash today on Monday. Selling of Rs 13,632.47 crore was done against total purchase of Rs 13,206.44 crore. While DII-Domestic Institutional Investors net bought shares worth Rs 3917.43 crore in cash today. Selling of Rs 12,292.64 crore was done against total purchase of Rs 16,210.07 crore Crude prices rose from 81.54 to 82.29 to 82.04 dollars.
