Dhamtari, 1 July (HS). The lease of two acres of cultivable land which is in the possession of the school committee for 50 years has been wrongly issued in the name of two persons. In such a situation, both the persons are trying to occupy this land by sowing paddy seeds this year by claiming it to be theirs. The villagers strongly opposed this and the entire village reached the collectorate in more than five vehicles to demand the cancellation of the lease. The villagers met the collector and demonstrated in the collectorate on 1 July demanding the immediate cancellation of the lease. The villagers returned after the officer assured them of investigation and action.
A crowd of more than 200 villagers including District Panchayat member Khublal Dhruv, Sarpanch Lomash Sinha, Aarti Ram Sinha, Manharan Lal Sinha, Shiv Kumar Sen, Rohit Sahu, Chetan Sahu, Geeta Bai Sinha, Leela Bai of village Pahanda area under Magarlod block reached the Collectorate on July 1. In the memorandum submitted to the Collector, the villagers have alleged that this land is with the school committee for the last 50 years. This is the land of Kabilkast, in such a situation, the lease of this land has been issued in the name of two villagers of the village in an illegal manner, which is not appropriate. Both the villagers have occupied this land and have sprinkled paddy seeds. Whereas both of them have been stopped many times by the villagers from occupying and sowing paddy. Meetings have been held three times in the village, even after this both are not ready to agree. In such a situation, the villagers say that the lease of this land of Kabilkast cannot be made in the name of someone else under any circumstances.
The crowd of villagers has demanded the administration to investigate the matter thoroughly and take action and cancel the lease immediately. The villagers also demonstrated in front of the Collectorate office by raising slogans to meet the collector and demand the cancellation of the lease. In view of the crowd of villagers, the security of the police administration was increased. In view of the demand of the villagers, the Deputy Collector has assured the villagers to investigate the matter and take action. Only after this the crowd of villagers left.
