Mumbai: The film 'Article 370', based on the circumstances created after the removal of Article 370 in Kashmir, is likely to become the first surprise hit of this year. The film has performed better than expected at the box office and has even overtaken Kashmir-based 'Kashmir Files' in its first two days' earnings.
The lifetime collection of 'Kashmir Files' was 250 crores. Now trade pundits are keeping an eye on whether Yami Gautam's 'Article 370' can cross this figure too.
The film is produced by Yami Gautam's husband Aditya Dhar. Critics are saying that in terms of filmmaking technique this film is better than 'Kashmir Files'.
The film took an opening of Rs 6.12 crore on the first day. After this, there was a jump in its earnings on the second day and it earned Rs 9.8 crore. In this way, his earning in two days has become Rs 15.20 crore. Vivek Agnihotri's film 'Kashmir Files' earned Rs 3.55 crore on the first day and Rs 5 crore on the second day. Later the film became a mega hit due to word of mouth publicity. Even in 'Article 370' everyone is seeing how mouth publicity works.
According to Trade Circle, 'Article 370' is not getting the benefit of any big Bollywood film at the box office. Shahid Kapoor's 'Teri Baton Mein Uljha Jiya' has now cooled down. Vidyut Jammwal's film 'Krack' has failed at the box office since day one.
