Seven dead, 36 injured

Russia launched a missile attack on a town in southern Ukraine, killing seven people, including children, and wounding several others, local authorities said in a statement.

Authorities said 36 people were injured in the attack on Saturday evening and a day of mourning was declared today. Local governor Ivan Fedorov said three children were among the dead.

Fedorov said a shop, residential building and a vital infrastructure were damaged in Vilnyansk. Following the attack, Ukrainian President Zelensky appealed to Ukraine's allies to provide more support to counter the Russian offensive.

Eight people were killed and 14 others injured in violence-hit eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine on Saturday night, according to the local governor.

Meanwhile, the Russian Defence Ministry on Sunday claimed that its forces shot down 36 Ukrainian drones in southwestern Russia overnight.

Vilnius is in the Zaporizhia region, 30 km (20 mi) from the local capital. Ukrainian authorities released a photo of a body lying in a park in Vilnius.
