BEIJING: Unbelievable, but Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday praised the three-way agreement between India and China and urged countries in the Global South to embrace it.
It is well known that Lord Buddha has a great influence in South East and East Asia. He is in the 7th Saika of A.D. Panchsheel principle requested man to adopt Sama, Ahimsa, Ajneya, Aparigraha and Brahmakarma (moderate life even after marriage) in his life. Jawaharlal Nehru gave a new form to the same principles and gave five principles in international relations (1) Respect for each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity (2) Non-aggression against each other. (3) Non-interference in each other's internal affairs (4) Equality and mutual assistance (5) Peaceful co-existence.
When the world was directly divided into two camps, on one side were the western countries led by America, on the other side were the leftist countries found in the Eastern European countries (except Yugoslavia), Soviet Union, China, Mongolia, North Korea and Vietnam (northern region). The area from East Germany to the Adriatic Sea was separated from the rest of Europe. Vinson Churchill said that the iron-curtain has fallen. At that time Jawaharlal Nehru along with Nasser of Egypt and Marshal Tito of Yugoslavia launched the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), in which Indonesian President Sasortijoyo Sukarno also joined and when the first NAM conference was held in Bandung, Indonesia, the Chinese Prime Minister Chou En Lai was also present. This conference was held on 29-6-1954.
On the anniversary of the Bandung Conference, a conference of representatives of the countries of the Global South was called here (in Beijing). Former President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa was also present in it. Leaders of other countries were also present.
At that time (in 1954) there was also a reciprocal agreement between India-China and India-Myanmar (then known as Burma).
However, after this on 20 October 1962, China suddenly attacked and occupied a large area of Ladakh. But at that time their attempts to capture NEFA (North East Frontier Agency) failed.
Talks are going on between the two countries regarding Ladakh, Arunachal Pradesh and Doklam. As far as Ladakh relations talks are concerned, 29 meetings have been held between the top officials of the two countries but they have been inconclusive.
Observers say that China's attraction towards India is probably because it is currently eyeing Taiwan. That is why Xi Jinping wanted to keep the northwestern (Landkh) front calm. So perhaps he is talking like this.
