4 children drowned in underbridge in Delhi, total 11 died in rain disaster

New Delhi: Heavy rains occurred in Delhi on Saturday as well, due to which waterlogging situation persisted in many areas. Two children who went to bathe in rain water in Sirsapur underbridge of Delhi died due to drowning. With this, a total of 11 people died in rain-related accidents in the capital. Sirsapur underbridge was flooded since Friday. Similarly, two children who were bathing in a pit filled with rain water in Usmanpur Yamuna Khadar on Friday died due to drowning. One person also died due to drowning in Okhla underbridge.

Delhi's Rohini and Burari recorded 8.9 mm of rain in the morning. A total of 12.6 mm of rain fell in the city during the afternoon. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert, predicting heavy to very heavy rains in Delhi for the next seven days. On the other hand, more than 20 IndiGo flights were canceled on Saturday after Terminal-1 of Delhi International Airport was closed due to roof collapse. Apart from this, a total of 23 flights including two of SpiceJet were canceled at Terminal-1.

Along with Delhi, it rained in many places in North India. The roads were flooded due to heavy rain in Indore, Madhya Pradesh.

About half an inch of rain fell here in 40 minutes. Waterlogging was seen at many places in the city. Many cities including Mathura in Uttar Pradesh were submerged due to extremely heavy rains. Agra received 52.0 mm of rain. In northeastern India, seven districts of Assam received extremely heavy rains and 1.33 lakh people are facing difficulties due to floods.

The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and West and Northeast India for the next five days. According to the Meteorological Department, the southwest monsoon has reached eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. It will reach Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir in the next two-three days.
