Jaipur, June 29 (HS). Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is organizing millet fairs across the country to promote millets i.e. coarse grains. The Commissionerate of Food Safety and Drug Control Rajasthan Jaipur and Chief Medical and Health Officer Jaipur organized a district level millet fair at Shilpgram of Jawahar Kala Kendra located at JLN Marg on Saturday.
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India successfully organized a one-day Millets Fair, ensuring public participation to create awareness about the utility and quality of coarse grains (Shri Anna).
In the program organized at Shilpgram premises, Additional Commissioner Food Safety and Drug Control Pankaj Ojha, Director RCH Dr. S.S. Ranawat, Joint Director, Jaipur Zone Dr. Narottam Sharma, Project Director Vaccination Dr. Raghuraj Singh, Additional Director Jawahar Kala Kendra Priyanka Jodha, CMHO Jaipur First Dr. Ravi Shekhawat, Chief Food Analyst, Central Laboratory Dr. Karan Singh, Food Safety Officers of the district, officers and employees of the medical department and general public were present.
After the lighting of the lamp and welcoming the guests, CMHO Jaipur I Dr. Ravi Shekhawat gave a welcome address. He introduced the Millet Fair in detail. After this, Project Director Vaccination Dr. Raghuraj Singh talked about creating awareness about the consumption of millets and adopting it in daily life.
On this occasion, Additional Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Control Pankaj Ojha in his address highlighted the concept and importance of millets in daily life and informed about the achievements of the department. Sharing the unprecedented success of Shuddh Aahar Milawat Par Vaar Abhiyan, he gave information about the action taken against adulterators. Giving information about adulteration in various food items, he explained its adverse effects on health. He said that the general public should be made aware of the disadvantages of the fast food being used at present and should be motivated to adopt millets through various public awareness mediums.
Director RCH Dr. S.S. Ranawat explained the importance of traditional nutritious food grains and told about its benefits. He explained the importance of coarse grains in a traditional way and highlighted its qualities.
Chief Food Analyst, Central Laboratory, Dr. Karan Singh, while explaining the actions being taken for pure food, gave a comprehensive information on the functioning of food laboratories.
In his address, cardiologist Dr. G.L. Sharma praised the program and discussed the positive effects of consuming coarse grains on the heart and other body parts and talked about adopting millets in daily life. At the end of the program, Food Safety Officer, Jaipur II Deepak Sindhi thanked the guests and visitors.
During the fair, quiz, poster and various competitions were organized in which the participants participated enthusiastically.
After this, the guests visited the fair. Along with this, various types of tasty and nutritious recipes made from millets i.e. coarse grains like jowar bajra ragi buckwheat etc. were displayed in the fair and the general public was encouraged to consume coarse grains as much as possible.
