Anuppur, June 29 (HS). Elephants have been roaming in the same place in the district for the last 15 days. During this time, elephants have damaged more than half a dozen houses. There is anger among the villagers due to not getting compensation on time. A team of elephant experts was called from Bengaluru to drive the elephants out of the district, but they also failed to drive them away.
To drive the elephants out of the district, a team of elephant experts has been called from West Bengal, which will reach the district on Sunday. The team will work with the forest department to make efforts to drive the elephants out of the district.
Villagers forced to stay awake at night
Elephants have been creating havoc in the same place for the last 15 days. During this time, elephants come out of the jungle at night and enter the rural areas. Due to which the villagers are forced to stay awake the whole night. The villagers told that there are elderly people and small children living in the house. They are forced to stay awake outside the house at night due to the fear of elephants.
The team will arrive tomorrow
Chief Forest Conservator Shahdol LL Uike said that a team of elephant experts was called from Bengaluru to drive away the elephants. Now a team has been called from West Bengal to drive away the elephants, which will reach the district on Sunday. In collaboration with the forest department, efforts will be made to drive the elephants out of the district.
