Mumbai: 'Kalki 2989 AD', a film starring top stars including Deepika Padukone and Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan, has earned around Rs 95 crore on the first day in India. The Hindi version of the film has earned around 22 crore.
According to the claims of the film's team, a total of Rs 180 crores has been earned worldwide in all languages on the first day.
The film's earnings were affected due to the cancellation of many shows in IMAX theatres on the first day. Due to a dispute between the distributor and the producer, the distributors did not get the code to release the film till the last minute. The film has received mixed reviews. Most people say that the film is very slow in the first half while it picks up pace in the second half. The visual effects of the film have been praised but the emotional conflict like Prabhas's Bahubali films has not been seen in this film. At the same time, mega star Amitabh Bachchan's acting is being praised, but at the same time many critics are finding the story of the film quite complicated and believe that such a complex story may be difficult for the general audience to understand.
