In Dehradun, under the Agriculture Census Scheme operated by the Revenue Council of Uttarakhand on behalf of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary of Uttarakhand, Chairman of Revenue Council and Agriculture Census Commissioner Anand Vardhan, Assistant Director Jagriti Goyal, representative of Government of India, gave training on the second and third phase of the Agriculture Census Scheme.
The data of agricultural census is used for development planning, socio-economic policy making and establishment of national priorities. In the second phase of the agricultural census scheme, data is collected by feeding the irrigated and non-irrigated area, information of lease of land and crop pattern in 20 percent revenue villages of the state through the AG Census app. In the third phase of agricultural census, information is collected about the number of members of the farmer's family, level of education, age and manure, chemical fertilizers, seeds, medicines, agricultural loan, agricultural equipment etc. used by the farmer.
Commissioner and Secretary Revenue Council-Agricultural Census Chandresh Kumar, Additional District Magistrate Pithoragarh Shivkumar Barnwal and Pauri Ila Giri, Assistant Director of Agricultural Census Suresh Chand Singh and other personnel participated in the training.
Main objectives of agricultural census :
– Calculation of number and area of operational holdings.
– Land use and crop pattern, irrigation and tenancy details.
– Details of different sizes of holdings including Scheduled Caste, Tribe, Women.
– Patterns of input use in agriculture.
