Nainital, June 28 (HS). The High Court heard a PIL filed to investigate the irregularities in the tender process of hoardings and unipoles in Dehradun Municipal Corporation. The High Court directed the state government and the Municipal Corporation to clarify the situation. The court has fixed September 10 for the next hearing of this case.
The case was heard before a division bench of Chief Justice Ritu Bahri and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal. According to the case, Dehradun resident social activist Abhinav Thapar had filed a PIL in the High Court saying that during the ten-year tenure of the BJP from 2013 to 2023, there have been many irregularities in the tender process of hoardings and unipoles, due to which the Municipal Corporation has suffered a revenue loss of about Rs 300 crore. The petition states that on August 11, 2023, a complaint was made to the Mayor and Secretary Urban Development, in which it was said that who collected 325 illegal hoardings and who is selling them. It should be investigated, but till now the Municipal Corporation and the administration have not taken any decision on his complaint, whereas in 2019 the Municipal Corporation formed a committee and conducted a survey and 325 hoardings were found illegal. No action was taken on that either. The petitioner had demanded an investigation into the matter.
