Jos Buttler admitted his mistake and said Moeen should have been made to bowl on a spin-friendly pitch

Providence, June 28 (HS). After the defeat in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup against India, England captain Jos Buttler admitted that he made a mistake by not bowling spinner Moeen Ali on the spin-friendly pitch at Providence Stadium in Guyana.

The Rohit Sharma-led side registered a stunning 68-run win over England at the Providence Stadium in Guyana to enter the final, where they will face South Africa on Saturday.

Indian spinners – Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav – completely dominated the spin-friendly surface of Guyana and picked up six wickets. For England, Moeen Ali did not bowl a single over, while Adil Rashid conceded 25 runs in his 4 overs and got the most valuable wicket of Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Chasing a target of 172 runs, the defending champion English team collapsed for 103 runs thanks to the brilliant bowling of the Indian spinners.

Butler said after the match, “Our two players (Rashid and Livingstone) bowled well. Looking back, Moeen should have bowled on this surface as well, we are really proud of everyone's effort. We stayed united, we performed well when it was needed the most.”

Talking about the match, Rohit's half-century (57) and excellent batting by Suryakumar Yadav (47), Hardik Pandya (23) and Ravindra Jadeja (17 not out) helped India score 171 for 7 in 20 overs.

Chasing the target of 172 runs, the English team could only score 103 runs. For England, Jofra Archer played a brilliant innings of 21 runs in 15 balls.
