Dharamshala, June 27 (HS). Himachal Pradesh Central University and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) are soon going to start joint degree programs and joint publications. During its two-day visit, a four-member delegation of Indiana University of Pennsylvania held a marathon meeting with the university under the chairmanship of Vice Chancellor Prof. SP Bansal at the Central University on Thursday and discussed and finalized the process in this regard.
The four-member delegation from Indiana University of Pennsylvania included Dr. Michele Petrucci, Senior International Executive, Dr. Curtis Scheib, Dean, College of Arts, Humanities, Media, and Public Affairs, and Dr. Prashanth Bhardwaj, Interim Dean, Eberly College of Business.
After long deliberations between IUP representatives and Deans of CUHP, a consensus was reached that in the first phase of the joint academic venture, MBA degree programme will be offered in joint collaboration from August, 2025 and more disciplines will be explored to launch joint academic degree programmes. Secondly, both the universities will move towards joint research publications. For this purpose, three academic disciplines viz. Humanities and Social Sciences, Business Management and Science have been finalised in which research journals will be published in a collaborative manner. In addition, it was also decided that 10-15 students from one country will visit the other country for cultural events under Discover India and Discover US programmes.
In the two-day meeting, Vice Chancellor Prof. S.P. Bansal expressed his satisfaction and happiness over the final concrete results of the deliberations. He also said that Himachal Pradesh Central University has moved forward in the direction of internationalization, where students and faculty will gain more experience and this meeting is a beginning in that direction.
