Ranchi, June 27 (HS). A woman from Khunti was held hostage at Booti Mor Genetic Hospital since June 3 for money for her treatment. The woman's husband complained about this to CID DG Anurag Gupta on Thursday. After this, the team of Sadar police station along with the CID reached the hospital and freed the woman. Currently, the woman has been sent home.
The woman's name is Sunita Devi. Sunita's husband Maglu Singh said that Sunita was pregnant. During this time, Sunita was taken to Khunti Sadar Hospital for delivery, from where Sunita was referred to RIMS. Maglu said that when she came to RIMS, some people advised her to get treatment in a private hospital.
After this, Sunita was admitted to Genetic Hospital. Here Sunita gave birth to a child on 28 May. After this, on 3 June, the hospital management handed over the newborn child to the father while Sunita was kept in the hospital. Maglu said that he did not have money for the hospital fees. He himself is a MNREGA worker. In such a situation, he sold his farm land and deposited two lakh ten thousand rupees, but due to one lakh sixty thousand rupees remaining, the hospital has kept the woman as hostage.
On the other hand, social worker Ashish Sahu said that the woman was kept in the hospital because she could not pay the fees, although the victim informed the hospital management about the financial difficulties several times. Even the newborn was separated from the mother. A case will be registered after getting information from the hospital management in the matter.
An attempt was made to contact the hospital management to know their side in this regard but the phone was not picked up.
