India Alliance: Politics has also heated up on the issue of India not demanding division of votes. Nitish Kumar's party JDU's national secretary Rajiv Ranjan has claimed that the opposition knew that it did not have the numbers. If they demand division of votes, then their internal knots will also be exposed.
He further said that the flaws in the floor management of the opposition were visible a day before, when the statement of TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee came out. Jairam Ramesh said that he had not asked for division of votes while Abhishek Banerjee said that he had asked for division of votes.
Parties like TMC, AAP will challenge Congress
Rajiv Ranjan said that the knots within the alliance (INDIA) are now coming out but if this trend continues then parties like TMC and Aam Aadmi Party will pose a big challenge for it in the future.
TMC distanced itself from the name of K. Suresh
For the post of Speaker, the main constituent parties of India Congress, SP, DMK, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP K. Suresh's name was proposed but TMC kept away from it. On behalf of NDA, PM Modi proposed the name of Om Birla, which was passed by the Protem Speaker by voice vote.
What did TMC say?
TMC's complaint was that they were not consulted regarding K. Suresh's name. Congress tried to explain but perhaps it did not happen.
What did Jairam Ramesh and Abhishek Banerjee say?
On the one hand, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that India has exercised its democratic right by proposing K Suresh's name for the post of Speaker. India could have put pressure for division of votes but we did not do so.
TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee said that many MPs had demanded voting but the pro tem speaker did not allow vote division as they did not have enough numbers to win the election.
