Tata Nexon In CNG: Tata Motors may launch a CNG variant of its popular Nexon compact SUV by the end of this year. According to a report by Autocar, the upcoming Nexon CNG was introduced to customers as a production model i.e. Nexon iCNG Concept at the India Mobility Show earlier this year.
Reportedly, the Nexon CNG will be similar to the standard SUV in terms of its exterior and interior design as well as equipment list. When it comes to its suspension, there are chances of some CNG-related mechanical upgrades. It could also include some iCNG underpinnings to differentiate it from the range.
First CNG car with turbocharged engine
The CNG-powered Nexon will come with the same 1.2-litre, turbocharged 3-cylinder engine as the petrol version. This means that it will be India's first turbocharged CNG vehicle. Tata Motors recently introduced the Tiago and Tigor CNG variants. It remains to be seen whether customers will get the option of an automatic gearbox in the upcoming Nexon CNG or not
When launched, Nexon will be the only car in India to be offered with such a wide list of powertrain options. It includes petrol, diesel and CNG with multiple gearbox options. Along with this, this car is also available with an all-electric version. Nexon CNG will compete with Brezza CNG in the Indian market. Apart from Nexon CNG, Tata Motors will also introduce the Curve in both electric and ICE versions along with the Tata Harrier EV in this financial year.
