Gujarat Rain Update: Uninterrupted cloud cover continues in Gujarat, especially in Saurashtra and South Gujarat. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains in some parts of Saurashtra in the coming days. Today, 76 talukas of the state received good rainfall from 6 am to 8 pm.
According to the data released by the Gandhinagar-based State Emergency Operations Centre, Tankara in Morbi district received the highest rainfall of 4.5 inches today. The special thing is that Tankara received torrential rain in just 6 hours from 2 pm to 8 pm. Due to heavy rains, 0.5 feet of fresh water has come into Machhu-2 dam of Morbi. Apart from this, other local reservoirs and rivers have been flooded.
Talking about other talukas, 3 inches rain was recorded in Kodinar of Gir Somnath, 3 inches in Gondal of Rajkot, 3/4 inch in Junagadh, 2/4 inch in Danta of Banaskantha, 2 inches in Jetpur of Rajkot, 1.5 inches in Kalawad of Jamnagar. Thus, 18 talukas of the state have received more than 1 inch of rain on an average.
Talking about the last 2 hours, from 6 pm to 8 pm, it has rained in 20 talukas. In which one and a half inch rain has occurred in Tankara of Morbi, one and a half inch in Wankaner and one inch in Halvad along with thunder. Apart from this, 18 mm rain has occurred in Dabhoi of Vadodara and 10 mm rain has occurred in Malia of Morbi.
A young man died due to lightning in Halvad
Lightning struck many villages including Mitana, Kalyanpar, Bhootkotda, Chitradi, Jogad in Morbi. Meanwhile, Anilbhai Arjunbhai Nayak (22) of Pavagadh of Shaktigarh village under Jogawad Gram Panchayat of Tribhovanbhai Popatbhai's wadi, Halavad taluk had come here with his wife 7 to 8 days ago for labour work. Anilbhai got married ten days ago. He died due to lightning this evening. In another incident, a buffalo died due to lightning in the paddy field of Chanabhai Jesingbhai of Chiltadi village.
