KVIC makes record sales of Rs 8.67 crore on Yoga Day

New Delhi, June 26 (HS). Yoga Day brought special happiness for lakhs of Khadi artisans in rural areas of the country. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Khadi Development and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) sold Khadi yoga clothes and mats worth Rs 8.67 crore.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) said that on International Yoga Day on June 21, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission sold 1,09,022 yoga mats and 63,700 yoga costumes worth Rs 8,67,87,380 to various government departments through 55 Khadi institutions across the country.

Releasing the figures, KVIC Chairman Manoj Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'brand power' has made yoga as well as the Indian heritage of Khadi popular. He said that it is a matter of happiness for the Khadi family that this time there has been a record-breaking sale of special yoga clothes and mats made by our Khadi artisans.
