New Delhi, June 26 (HS). The record-breaking rise in the domestic stock market continued for the third consecutive day on Wednesday. Today's trading also started with a new opening record. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed with a gain of 0.80 percent and the Nifty closed with a gain of 0.62 percent.
The stock market reached its highest level ever during the day's trading and then today's trading also ended with an all-time high closing record. Buying pressure prevailed most of the day's trading, due to which the stock market remained in the green mark throughout the day except for the first 1 hour of trading. During today's trading, the shares of banking and FMCG sector saw the most buying. Along with this, the Tech and Oil and Gas index also closed with gains.
On the other hand, IT, automobile, consumer durables, health care, metal and public sector enterprise indices declined. The broader market witnessed mixed trading today, due to which the BSE midcap index closed with a weakness of 0.29 percent. The smallcap index ended today's trading with a gain of 0.15 percent.
Due to the surge in the market today, the wealth of stock market investors increased by more than Rs 1 lakh crore. The market capitalization of companies listed on BSE increased to Rs 436.97 lakh crore (provisional) after today's trading. On the previous trading day i.e. Tuesday, their market capitalization was Rs 435.76 lakh crore. In this way, investors made a profit of about Rs 1.21 lakh crore from today's trading.
There was active trading in 4,008 shares on BSE during today's trading. Of these, 1,916 shares closed with a gain while 1,967 shares showed a decline, whereas 125 shares closed without any fluctuation. There was active trading in 2,301 shares on NSE today. Of these, 1,032 shares closed in the green zone after making profits, while 1,269 shares closed in the red zone after incurring losses. Similarly, out of the 30 shares included in Sensex, 18 shares closed with a gain and 12 shares closed with a decline. Out of the shares included in Nifty, 25 shares closed in the green zone and 25 shares closed in the red zone.
The BSE Sensex opened at 78,094.02 points today with a marginal gain of 40.50 points, setting a new record of all-time high opening. After the start of trading, due to selling pressure, the index slipped to 77,945.94 points with a weakness of 107.58 points. After 10 am, buyers took over and started buying all around. With the support of continuous buying, the index jumped more than 810 points from the lower level and managed to reach the highest level of 78,759.40 points so far with a strength of 705.88 points. After the whole day's trading, the Sensex closed at 78,674.25 points, setting a new record of all-time high closing with a gain of 620.73 points.
Like the Sensex, NSE's Nifty also started trading at 23,723.10 points today, setting a new record of all-time high opening with a symbolic gain of 1.80 points. After the market opened, due to profit booking pressure, this index also dived to 23,670.45 points with a weakness of 50.85 points. But after this, the bulls completely took over the market, due to which the movement of this index gained momentum. With the support of continuous buying, this index jumped more than 215 points from the lower level and reached its highest level of 23,889.90 points with a strength of 168.60 points. After the whole day's trading, Nifty closed at 23,868.80 points, setting a new record of all-time high closing with a gain of 147.50 points.
After the day's buying and selling, among the big stocks of the stock market, Reliance Industries rose by 4.12 percent, Bharti Airtel by 3.15 percent, UltraTech Cement by 2.74 percent, ICICI Bank by 1.67 percent and Grasim Industries by 1.40 percent and were included in the list of today's top 5 gainers. Apollo Hospital fell by 2.52 percent, Mahindra & Mahindra by 1.99 percent, Bajaj Auto by 1.92 percent, Tata Steel by 1.78 percent and Hindalco Industries by 1.58 percent and were included in the list of today's top 5 losers.
