A direct helicopter service from Jammu to Mata Vaishno Devi temple was launched on Tuesday, providing great convenience to pilgrims who wish to visit the holy shrine within a day due to paucity of time.
This helicopter service is in addition to the helicopter service already available between the base camp and the common rooftop near the temple for pilgrims visiting the famous temple situated on the Trikuta hills in Reasi district, at a one-way fare of Rs 2100 per person.
Pilgrims opting for this service from Jammu will have a choice of 2 packages. Same day return will cost Rs 35,000 per passenger and next day return will cost Rs 60,000 per person.
To mark the launch of the new service, the first helicopter carrying pilgrims took off from Jammu airport at 11 am and landed at the Pakshi helipad on the new route to the shrine, officials said.
“This service is part of continuous efforts,” Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Chief Executive Officer Anshul Garg told reporters in Katra after the inauguration.
