Nana told that his elder son's health was bad since birth. His name was Durvasa and he died at the age of two and a half years. Nana said, 'He had a problem in one eye which we did not know about.' When I came to know, I felt very bad, I thought what people would think about Nana's son? At that time I did not think what my son would be going through. I was just thinking what people would think about my son. Nana said that he was in shock when his son died. Nana said, 'At that time I used to smoke 60 cigarettes a day, even while bathing, but this was a very bad thing. No one could even sit in my car because of the smell of cigarettes. I do not drink alcohol but I used to smoke a lot.'
Nana further said, 'It was because of my sister that I quit smoking. Actually, one of her sons had also died. One day she saw me coughing after smoking a cigarette and said, 'What else do you want to see happen now?' After hearing this, I quit smoking. Nana married a bank officer Neel at the age of 27. After this, both became parents of two sons. After the death of the elder son Durvasa, Mata Malhar became the father of a son. Talking about the film career of 73-year-old Nana, he has worked in many films including 'Parinda', 'Prahar', 'Tiranga'.
