Frank Duckworth, the co-inventor of the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method, which is used to determine a winner or target in international cricket matches affected by rain interruptions and bad weather, has died at the age of 84. In international cricket, this method is known as Duckworth-Lewis. Frank Duckworth was an English statistician who invented this method along with Tony Lewis. ICC adopted the Duckworth-Lewis system in 2001
The ICC officially adopted the Duckworth-Lewis system in 2001. While some improvements were made to the Duckworth-Lewis method by Australian statistician Steven Stern in 2014. As it seems more practical, the method now used in rain-interrupted matches is officially known as the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. Duckworth and Lewis were awarded the MBE in England in 2010.
