Sarai booking: New facts have come to light in the case of booking rooms in Saragarhi Sarai of Shiromani Committee for devotees visiting Sri Darbar Sahib through a fake website. Although the police have not been able to do anything in this case so far, but on the initiative of the committee, the website used for fraud has been closed.
According to the facts that have come to light in the committee's investigation so far, the fraudsters have defrauded about 100 people of Rs 10 to 12 lakh. However, this number may be higher, it has not been confirmed. By luring people to scan the QR code, the fraudsters used to completely empty the customer's bank account.
Gurpreet Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Sarai, says that among all the institutions of the committee, Saragarhi Sarai has an online booking system for the convenience of devotees. For this, there is a system of booking rooms through the official website of the committee www.sgpesarai.com.
This is how fraud happened
According to the investigation of the team, whenever a devotee searched the website for online booking, he got trapped in the trap of a fake website. They were asked to pay in advance by giving QR code. Many such complaints also came that extra money was deducted.
When the devotee protested, another QR code was sent in the name of refund. As soon as the code was scanned, all the money was withdrawn from the account.
