Jabalpur, June 25 (HS). To get more production of pigeon pea, the officials of the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department have advised the farmers of the district to sow it using the Dharwad method. According to the officials of the department, the Dharwad method saves seeds and time as compared to the traditional method and the production is also almost double.

To provide information about the benefits of sowing pigeon pea using the Dharwad method, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Dr. Indira Tripathi, Senior Agriculture Development Officer Shrikant Yadav, Pankaj Srivastava, Block Technical Manager Harish Barve, Agriculture Extension Officer Seema Raut, under their guidance, got pigeon pea sown using the Dharwad method in the field of farmer Bhagwan Das Patel of village Luhari Sukha.

Dr. Indira Tripathi told the farmers present on this occasion that sowing of pigeon pea using Dharwad method produces healthy plants and the production is almost doubled. In Dharwad method, first the nursery of the plant is prepared, which saves the time required for sowing pigeon pea in the field. The farmer gets extra time to prepare for farming.

He told that the thing to pay special attention to in this method is that after the nursery plant is ready, when it is transplanted in the field, after 20 to 25 days the bud on the top of the plant is broken. This causes more buds to come out in the plant. This process is done three times in the plant, due to which the plant grows well and the number of pods in the plant increases and there is a lot of increase in production.

What is Dharwad method: –

According to the officials of the Farmer Welfare and Agriculture Development Department, Dharwad method is a new technique of sowing pigeon pea. In this, pigeon pea is not sown directly but is sown through the transplanted method. This ensures that every plant is healthy. How to do farming using Dharwad method:-

Officials of the Kisan Kalyan Department said that in the Dharwad method, 1 kg of seeds are required per hectare. Whereas in the traditional method, 25 kg of seeds are required per hectare and 10 thousand saplings are required for sowing in one hectare. The most important thing to be noted in the Dharwad method is that after transplantation, potash must be added to it. By using this method, a good crop can be produced.
