Toll Free Expressways: There is good news for people waiting to travel on the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. There will be no toll tax on this expressway from Akshardham to Loni Border. Toll will not be charged in the initial 18 km stretch, but after that toll will have to be paid according to the distance traveled. This expressway will directly benefit Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. After its opening, many areas of East Delhi may get relief from traffic jams.
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has fixed the rules related to toll collection. Officials associated with the authority said that now a decision will be taken soon regarding the toll tax rates. He said that the toll rates between Delhi and Baghpat (Khekra) are likely to be higher than the average, because 90 percent of the expressway here is elevated, which costs a lot. Generally, NHAI collects toll at the rate of Rs 2.75 per kilometer, but here the toll rates can be higher than that.
Traffic is expected to start from Akshardham to Khekra next month
Load testing work has been started in a large part of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway (Delhi Dehradun Expressway Opening Date) from Akshardham to Khekra in Baghpat. After testing, as soon as the green signal is received from the ministry, this part of the expressway will be opened for traffic. It is likely that traffic will be started before July 30. NHAI officials say that at present only two 32 km long packages of the first phase are to be opened for traffic, but rules related to toll have been fixed for the entire expressway.
Considering the 210 km long expressway as a corridor, it has been decided that only one agency will collect the toll. Project Implementation Unit (PIU) Baghpat has been made the nodal agency to monitor the toll plaza. A master control room will be built under Baghpat PIU, which will monitor the entire expressway. Toll will be collected according to the distance on the expressway. Two main toll plazas are being built, in which a 14 lane toll plaza has been built in Ghaziabad's Loni after crossing the Delhi border, while the second one is being built before Dehradun.
Load testing is being carried out on the entire corridor
Loaded trucks are being parked on the elevated corridors built in Delhi, Ghaziabad and Baghpat. It is being seen whether the elevated road is able to bear the load or not based on the design on which it has been built.
If Fastag is blacklisted then you will have to pay full toll
For those drivers whose Fastag is blacklisted, travelling on the expressway can be costly. While going from Delhi to Dehradun, if they enter from somewhere in the middle and then exit at another point, they will have to pay the toll for the entire expressway. For example, if someone with a blacklisted Fastag travels from Saharanpur and gets down at Baghpat, he will have to pay the toll for the entire expressway. For this, NHAI will also put up boards at every entry point so that drivers can get information about it.
The project is expected to be completed by November
At present, only two packages are being opened for traffic in the first phase, but by November the remaining phases of the expressway will also be ready. After this, the journey from Delhi to Dehradun can be completed in two and a quarter hours.
There may be relief from traffic jam in many areas of East Delhi
People going from Delhi to Baghpat, Loni, Saharanpur and Dehradun will be able to come and go directly to the expressway via Akshardham, Vikas Marg, ISBT Kashmiri Gate Link Road and Signature Bridge. This will reduce the pressure of about one to one and a half lakh vehicles daily.
