Ranchi, June 25 (HS). The state BJP celebrated Emergency Day as a black day on Tuesday. BJP leaders and workers celebrated it by wearing black badges. Speakers discussed the Emergency by organizing seminars in all 27 organizational districts of the state. They also called upon the new generation of the country to know and understand it.
Speaking as the chief guest at the seminar organised by Ranchi Mahanagar BJP, BJP State President Babulal Marandi said that dictatorship and corruption are in the DNA of the Congress party. The Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi on 25 June 1975 is a dark chapter in the democratic history of India. He said that those who pretend to save democracy and the Constitution today have tried to end democracy in India. This is the same Congress which has repeatedly amended the Constitution in its own interest. The dictatorial attitude was such that it not only imposed Emergency, but also misused power and imposed President's rule by toppling elected governments more than 100 times.
Marandi said that Rahul Gandhi talks about the Constitution. He should remember the incident of tearing the decision of the Manmohan government's cabinet at the crossroads. He said that by imposing emergency, Indira Gandhi committed the pinnacle of cruelty against the people. She snatched away even the freedom of the press. Those who spoke against the misdeeds of the Congress were put in jail. False cases were filed against lakhs of people. Forced sterilizations were carried out.
Marandi said that this is the character of Congress even today. Congress party is struggling to get out of power. Now they are creating ruckus even on the Protem Speaker in the House. Their statements are selective. They pretend to support their allies at some places and strongly oppose them at other places. Congress never used power for service. He said that there should be competition to bring the black deeds of Congress to the people. We should go to as many people as possible and expose the real character of Congress. Especially the new generation needs to be made aware of the black deeds of Congress.
During the seminar, State President Babulal Marandi honoured the agitators who went to jail during the Emergency including Ranchi MLA CP Singh, former MLA Ram Chandra Nayak, Bhagwan Prasad, Umashankar Kedia, Prem Mittal, Rajkumar Gupta, Pramod Mishra, Shiv Govind Pandey, Radheshyam Agarwal, Yatindra Lal Das, Jagannath Mahato and Bhola Nath Mishra who were jailed under the MISA Act.
