New Delhi, June 25 (HS). Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh on Tuesday inaugurated the 71st India International Garment Fair (IIGF) at Yashobhoomi Convention Center. In his inaugural address, the Union Minister emphasized that IIGF provides an innovative marketing platform for micro, small and medium exporters, showcasing India's latest trends and diverse offerings to the rest of the world.
In his address on the occasion, Giriraj Singh said that to realize the Prime Minister's vision of “Make in India”, it is necessary to develop world-class manufacturing facilities with “Zero Effect: Zero Defect” at every level of the value chain. He called for adopting the 'hub and spoke' model to enhance domestic manufacturing, encourage industry collaboration and underlined the importance of establishing Indian brands. The Ministry is also set to revive the Integrated Textile Park (SITP) scheme to create internationally standardized parks.
Giriraj Singh said, “Today, India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world with a GDP growth rate of 7.2 percent and is expected to become the third largest economy by 2027-28.” A positive domestic outlook coupled with a growth-oriented political establishment has provided a favourable eco-system for business in India. He said that several measures have been taken by the Indian government to boost the infrastructure sector and ease of doing business.
