Gurugram, June 25 (HS). Captain Abhimanyu, who was the Finance Minister in Manohar Government-1, said in a program organized at the BJP office here on the anniversary of Emergency on Tuesday that Indira Gandhi had no qualifications to become the Prime Minister. Indira Gandhi was made the Prime Minister after the death of Jawaharlal Nehru. She came to power in the country in the name of her father.
On this occasion, Captain Abhimanyu also honoured the democracy fighters. The programme was also addressed by Mahavir Bhardwaj, President of the Loktantra Senani Organisation and Major Atul Dev. The programme was presided over by District President Kamal Yadav. Captain Abhimanyu said that in the 1971 elections, Rajnarayan had contested against Indira Gandhi. Due to rigging in the elections, Rajnarayan filed a petition in Allahabad High Court. Allahabad High Court declared Jayanarayan victorious and cancelled Indira Gandhi's election. Indira Gandhi felt that she was about to lose power, so she imposed emergency on the country overnight. He said that Congress has committed the sin of killing democracy and repeatedly damaging the Constitution. Describing the emergency as a dark chapter of Indian democracy, Captain Abhimanyu said that on 25 June 1975, the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had imposed emergency in the country and deprived the citizens of their basic rights. Without committing any crime and without making any mistake, 1 lakh 40 thousand people were stuffed into jails by the Congress government. Captain Abhimanyu said that no one can even imagine the torture that was inflicted by stuffing 3500 people in the barrack of Tihar Jail which had a capacity of 1200 people. On this occasion, District President Kamal Yadav, State Spokesperson Jawahar Yadav, Mahila Morcha State President Usha Priyadarshi, Mahavir Bhardwaj, Major Atul Dev, District General Secretary Sarvapriya Tyagi, Rambir Bhati, District Media Co-Chief Pawan Yadav, besides BJP officials and workers were also present.
